I'm unsure if this would be difficult to implement or not, but having stringers on the knickkacks staircase end in a corner like this instead of a sharp cut would look better in my opinion. Another reason is because the bottom of it sometimes clips through ceilings which looks bad. Also, I think there should be an option to not have the stringers on one or both sides as well.

The topology could probably look something like this. I don't think 8 more tris in one item would really cause any performance issues.
