Hi everyone, we haven't posted here in some time and wanted to give you a brief update.
We're finalising the modding tool that will allow you to use your own materials, textures and patterns on walls and... Yes, yes, on the items too!
It still needs some time to shine, but we're one step closer. At the same time, we're working on the other mods, but this is something for another update.
Stay tuned, Flippers, and be sure to check out Scooby-Doo DLC, there wasn't a better moment right at Halloween itself 😄
Cheers, Jay & the Frozen District team

Thank you for continual support on this game I think it has serious potential to be used professionally in the work place someday so I would like it to really soar I'm going to school in a year to study Architecture I will definitely want to show this and my project screenshots. I love this game loved the first one too this game exceeds and does exactly what it is ment to do and blows my mind how efficiently well it works you can make masterful pieces of Architectural Art with this gaming engine. it crashed on me today cause people was updating their submitted designs and resubbing them. I wish they wouldn't do that so much but I can understand why.

thank you for the search engine of things, I would be lost in a mindless hours dazed and confused without that. A modding tool update is even cooler custom books, posters, wall art retex furnishings and objects. Very cool idea. Needs an open file command. remember to use .Png files or jpg for non transparent images lossless 4k high quality compression too.

Any update on this?

Is there any update on when this will be possible?

any updates?

I'm looking forward to being able to 3D model my own items and import them! I really like the building feature much better on HF2 so I've been holding off on trying to import anything onto HF1
Custom materials and texturing is definitely one step closer!

When will it be available?

I'm incredibly relieved yall plan on making the workshop or at least a modding tool possible! I love the game, and I've technically completely beaten it twice, but the lack of items and decorations leaves a lot of empty space. Can't wait for this to be a thing!!

I am sure this will be a huge undertaking! Thank you to FD for taking it on.

so, according to the update on this, they're working on a tool that lets us change patterns and textures(I thought we technically HAD that, but apparently we'll be able to upload our own?)... but there's no mention of being able to port in player-made items.
So basically what we're getting is another version of the picture importing ability, only we can use it for wallpapers and textures.
when what this thread was requesting is allowing us to import actual furnishings and items.
I mean... it's Progress? but I wouldn't mark this as 'complete' when the new modding tool comes out, because being able to change the texture, material, and pattern isn't the same as being able to upload a keysword (avoiding copyright with a certain animation studio) or a Folding screen, or a viking helm.
Yes, the swords and suits of armor in the DLC that just came out are nice, but it's not the same as HF1's workshop. I could find Crystals, Laser swords, Superhero Logos, even building brick kits and board games (the dungeon one is cute, but it's not the same as being able to stack a shelf with boardgames I grew up playing, friendo) that I could put in and make a build feel more like a lived-in home.
the modding tool will be great, but I will consider this thread 'Complete' when I can officially hang a dwarven battle ax on my wall-and I don't mean a flat, 2-D image. I want dimension, I want to have limitations as to where it can go because it'll collide with the sofa I wanna hang it behind, or a wood stove to stick in a rustic cabin that I can set cast iron pots and pans on. Until then, no, it's not complete with a tool to change texture, material, and pattern.
you're making fantastic progress. I love the game. but I keep going back to the old one, like my last comment on this thread stated, because I can get items I WANT through the workshop on steam.

ueala1: It won't be marked complete! This post is clearly about item mods.
We need to build lots of infrastructure underneath for anything custom to work with HF2, and custom materials and patterns are the next step! Just like custom houses and custom pictures were the first steps for this whole process.
These materials and patterns will work on walls & on items, so future custom items will need to work with this as well!
Slow and steady, but we're getting there 😁

Jay thankyou for everyone’s work on this tool! I’m super excited about even just the update regarding it! Going to be a total game changer once it’s all done!

Jay As someone who creates A LOT of custom items in sandbox mode: how about an option to create custom items in game and then save/use them as one unit? Even the option to manually link items would go a long way.
Obviously it's not a perfect replacement for modded custom items but I reckon this would be much much easier to implement and can fill the void until we actually get fully custom items.

ueala1 similar to Sims 4 right you just point at the part or prop and you can change it's color palette? That would be so cool and it's so needed for the redecorating updating portion of this game for home interior/exterior designers.

they should add a scaling option for people who want to make a very tiny tiny tiny home.

Did... did they just give us an "update" with little solid info that ended with a pitch for the new DLC? ... 😅??
edit: Also forgive my ignorance but, isn't it only a mod if it is player-made? Surely they're referring to modding tools?
Jay
Ray O: Yes, it's a modding tool!

Jay Thank you for clarifying.
For the community's sake, please be more transparent about when you edit your comments in the future, especially if you're going to have them pinned.
It might seem like a small thing, but I really don't want people thinking that I "just misread" when I made my comment. :/ At the very least, acknowledge the mistake/typo/whatever instead of hoping no one notices or assumes the issue was with me.
Thanks.
Jay
Ray O: Sure! Just forgot, I did edit it. The original will always be on your email
